Registered address in Croatia: the term, the question to ask, the letters

Registered address in Croatia is the English label for what Croatian paperwork calls the sjedište, the official seat of a company. One idea, three names. Learn the word, then ask the one question that decides the purchase.
If you own or plan to own a Croatian company and have never met the term, this page explains the word, then the question to ask before you rent an address for it.
Sjedište, seat, registered office: three names, one idea
Croatian documents say sjedište. English texts switch between registered office, seat and registered address. All three point at the same thing: the address a company declares as its official home.
The gov.hr portal says the founding act of a d.o.o. defines the company seat (read 15 Oct 2026, no date of change: gov.hr founding page). For an existing company, a change of seat is an entry in the court register, the sudski registar. The gov.hr e-service page lists it among electronically signed applications (last updated 18 Jun 2025: gov.hr e-service page).

Can a virtual address be the seat?
That question decides the purchase, and its answer depends on your company. Tell us the company form and whether the company is already registered. Then ask us to confirm in writing what Gajeva 6, 10000 Zagreb can be used for in your case.
Get that answer before you pay. No answer yet. No payment.
Official letters: who opens the envelope
Mail addressed to the company arrives at the address it gave. At a virtual office the real question is who opens the envelope, and how soon you hear about it.
Start gives a notice. Scan adds a scan. Neither forwards paper, and neither promises to sign for registered mail.
A letter nobody opens can cost you time, and time can cost you money. Choose the handling before the first letter arrives.

What to bring to your enquiry
Write the company name or the planned name, the company form, the country its owners live in, and the date you need the address. That is enough for a concrete answer, including which plan fits, Start or Scan, from the prices page.
Common questions
Is a registered address the same as a business address?
Not always. The registered address is the official seat. A business address is the one you show to clients and suppliers. One address can do both jobs. The business address page covers the trading side.
My company already has a seat elsewhere. What now?
Then you are changing the seat, which has its own page with the Croatian terms explained. Give us the date the old address ends and we plan around it.
Who advises me on the legal side?
This site gives general information, not legal advice. For your company's legal position, ask a Croatian lawyer or accountant.
